Azithromycin -Drug Used toTreat Throat Infections

 Azithromycin belongs to a drug class called macrolide antibiotics. Antibiotics are the drugs which are use to treat infections caused by bacteria. Each antibiotic only works against infections caused by certain sorts of bacteria, so there are many classes and kinds of antibiotics.

Macrolide antibiotics are typically used to treat infections like sore throat, syphilis, Lyme disease, and respiratory infections. They’re also used to treat infections caused by organisms called mycoplasma, which may cause conditions like pneumonia. the other macrolide antibiotics available  are clarithromycin and erythromycin



Azithromycin has been studied as a part of a possible treatment combination for COVID-19. this is often the illness caused by the new coronavirus. it's not known if this drug is effective for treating COVID-19.
